Pilates is a system of exercise aimed at strengthening the core and releasing unnecessary tension to help achieve a healthier body. Many back problems are caused because of lack of strength to support to posture and/or too much tension pulling the posture into uncomfortable allignment. Pilates aims to bring a balance of strength, flexibility, mobility, body awareness and good circulation to help keep you fit in all areas. The class is taught in a flowing style to make exercises merge comfortably into each other. A mixed ability class, suitable for beginners. If you are recovering from injury or have limitations you may be more suited to the Gentle Pilates class.
Some of the classic Pilates exercises but taught more slowly, at a gentler level and with a focus on improving mobility. Gentle pilates is suitable for beginners, those recovering from injuries who need to take a more considered approach to movements or anyone who prefers a gentler style class.
The practice of Yoga has something special to offer everyone to help achieve a healthier happier life. The main part of this class includes a flowing sequence of Yoga postures to develop stamina, strength, circulation, enhanced self awareness and improved range of motion, alongside an introduction to breathing and meditation practice. This ancient spiritual science has stood the test of time for the simple reason, that it works, try it and see what it can do for you. A mixed ability class, however if you are recovering from injury or have limitations you may be more suited to one of the ‘gentle’ classes.
Gentle Hatha Yoga
A lighter version of the Hatha Yoga class, suitable for beginners to Yoga or those who want a slower pace to their practice. The class is still based on a flowing sequence but with less dynamic/challenging poses.
Yin yoga targets the dense connective tissues of the body, often in the hips, pelvis and lower back which are difficult to open and can result in both limited flexibility and stagnant energy. Yin Yoga asks for surrender in gentle yet intensive poses to develop circulation and elasticity in parts of the body that lie closest to the core. Poses are held a few minutes each which is slow but by no means ‘easy’.
This short class is aimed to give you an uplifting start to your day/week. A vinyasa style class, which means a flowing connection of postures using breath and mindful accurate placement. There is a focus on working through the core section of the body, building heat, strength and awareness in the pelvis, abdomen and back.

Kundalini Yoga is a branch of the ancient traditional system of Yoga which stands out for it’s Kriya’s (fixed system of movements, eye mudras, postures, breathing techniques, meditations and chants). These Kriya’s have been designed to bring about a certain desired result, so for example there are Kriyas designed for targeting mental fatigue; the glandular system; waking up; channeling energy up the spine….and hundreds more.
